Cartographic Technician/GIS Specialist (Fairfax area)
National Agricultural Statistics Service is planning on filling several vacancies for applications between Friday, December 10, 2010 to Monday, January 03, 2011 for fulltime GS-1371-07/09 grade Cartographic Technician/GIS Specialists
Job Duties:
The incumbent provides analysis of satellite imagery and aerial photography for the purpose of creating maps for agricultural land surveying. His/her responsibilities may include stratifying states based on land use criteria on both satellite imagery and aerial photography, selecting and delineating sampling units on aerial photography, and preparing and plotting finished maps for field use. The incumbent performs all duties in an ArcGIS 9 environment. He/she assists geographers and cartographers assigned to the unit.
