Mid-level GIS Developer at TEKsystems (Chantilly, VA)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for performing analysis, design, coding, testing, verification and validation, and maintenance of custom geospatial desktop and web-based solutions including geospatial databases. Analyzes and documents software requirements, prepares design specifications, develops software, creates and implements test plans and installation packages on a C#.Net / ArcGIS platform. Uses knowledge of software lifecycle processes to ensure quality applications are designed, tested and delivered.

Intimately familiar with ESRI 9.x technology with respect to the desktop client
• 3+ years experience
Experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS Server (9.x,10.x)REST and SOAP API’s
• 2+ years experience
Familiarity with Google Earth/KML

Development

Experience developing traditional SOAP and REST-style HTTP services also highly desirable.

Deep understanding of ESRI Rich API including Flex
• 2+ years experience
.NET experience in creating tools for ArcGIS Desktop
• 3+ years experience
Experience with python development
• 2+ years experience

Essential Job Duties:

Assist in assessing GIS project needs, develop conceptual design, and plan implementation.

Document workflows, COTS requirements, data conversion specifications.

Ability to work with various GIS and CADD data formats and perform data conversions and clean-up needed for GIS projects.

Responsible for pursuit of new GIS projects and clients and help conduct client presentations.

Provide technical writing to support GIS metadata and project documentation.

Assist GIS Supervisor in all phases of development, including: needs analysis, requirements definition, application and database design, data development, application programming, installation, quality control, user training, acceptance testing, and system rollout.

Develop GIS deliverables, such as spatial data, cartographic maps, and GIS spatial analyses.

NCSE Campus to Careers (C2C) Program (Washington DC)

C2C is hiring an Environmental Policy Intern that will work in the Nation's capital to support Pollinator Partnership initiatives aimed at:

1) Promoting public awareness through efforts in support of the Congressional Pollinator Protection Caucus and National Pollinator Week, June 20-26, 2011

2) Advancing pollinator-beneficial practices on highway rights of way under existing authorities and through amendments to transportation reauthorization legislation, by assisting in research and outreach to Federal agency and Capital Hill staff and other interested stakeholders.

The internship will be based in Washington, DC from late March to June, with the possibility for an extension into the summer months. The intern will be compensated on an hourly basis and a medical insurance plan in included. No assistance is available for housing or transportation (other than DC-based, on-the-job travel).
