GIS Internship at World Bank (DC)

The Sustainable Development Network Information Services (SDNIS) group is seeking a summer intern to assist with the work of the GIS Team. The GIS Team supports Bank units with spatial analysis and GIS projects, including web-based mapping applications and data management. The intern would support the team in various projects specifically utilizing ESRI products.
SDNIS is currently looking to hire for an intern who will be responsible for the following tasks:

•Utilize current GIS platforms, such as ESRI (Arc 10), Google Earth and various open source software to perform GIS data conversion/editing, map production, spatial database management, and spatial analysis calculations

•Design, create, edit, and maintain geodatabases and metadata.

•Perform research and writing assignments as needed

TIMING

It is anticipated that the assignment outlined above will commence by May 2, 2011 and end July 29, 2011. Hours can be flexible, averaging 20 hours a week.


•Administrative duties to assist in preparation of trainings, seminars, etc.
