GIS Programer Intern- World Bank (DC)

The Sustainable Development Network Information Services (SDNIS) group is seeking a summer intern to assist with the work of the GIS Team. The GIS Team supports Bank units with spatial analysis and GIS projects, including web-based mapping applications and data management. The intern would support the team in various projects specifically utilizing ESRI products.
SDNIS is currently looking to hire for an intern who will be responsible for the following tasks:

•Responsible for developing web applications using latest web technologies using ESRI’s ArcGIS Platform or other Open Source technologies.

•Responsible for GIS data conversion/editing, GIS map production, spatial database management, spatial analysis/reporting tasks.

•Design, create, edit, and maintain geodatabases and metadata.

Timing:
It is anticipated that the assignment outlined above will commence by May 2, 2011 and end July 29, 2011. Hours can be flexible, averaging 20 hours a week.

NGA Internship: Open Application Period for Summer 2012

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) will be accepting internship applications for the summer of 2012, August 1, through October 1, 2011!

NGA interns are considered our workforce of the future!We strive to hire successful students who are enrolled in the internship program. Interns are selected and aligned to specific work roles based on their area of study. During the internship, skills and work ethics are assessed to determine the student's potential as a future full time employee with NGA. Following are the basic internship requirements for

Minimum Requirements:
* US Citizenship
* 18 yrs or older
* Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university,
working towards a baccalaureate or graduate degree that aligns with an
NGA work role
* Able to obtain a top secret security clearance
* Have and maintain a 3.0 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale
* Commit to at least 10 consecutive weeks of work during summer break

Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Geocodes student records, Documents and QCs GIS data errors, Updates and maintains GIS layers and shapefiles, Produces paper and digital maps, Maintains and creates school floor plans in GIS, Analyzes GIS and school data for specific projects, Meets with other school administration and staff regarding GIS

Knowledge/Skills:
The GIS Analyst must be proficient with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS 9.x/10. This position requires good written and oral communication skills. Additionally, the GIS Analyst must be able to work through technical problems with minimal supervision. The ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines is also required.

Research Assistant at USGS

Working with the Global Mineral Resource Assessment Project, this position will provide data collection/compilation activities.

Looking for someone who is computer expertise in a database development, management, data analysis, and web publication activities. Minimal knowledge and skills with ArcGIS, Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software are required.
