Accountabilities
- Perform data research, discovery, and collection from historical engineering plans and documents
- Prepare data catalogues of necessary documents and data, document information sources, and prepare metadata documentation
- Use GIS software to query utility assets and perform attribute population, add new utility assets and document metadata
- Work independently to verify accuracy of conflicting information by reviewing historical engineering plans and documents
- Locate water and sewer assets in the field using GPS technology to verify asset information
Knowledge/Skills
- Must have experience using ESRI products, specifically ArcGIS Desktop and ArcCatalog version 8.0 or higher
- Experience interpreting and analyzing water and/or sanitary sewer utility information
- Basic knowledge of water and sewer system operations
- Must be detailed oriented and capable of reading and understanding complex engineering plans, maps and records
- Strong analytical skills and ability to systematically mine data from hard copy engineering plans and documents
- Experience using GPS technology
- Experience producing high quality digital and hardcopy maps and project graphics
- Willingness to assist with multiple projects
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Field work may be required
*This is a temporary position eligible to work up to 37.5 hours per week for up to 12 months*
