Satellite Programmers - Astrium GEO NA

Job description

Provide complete Programming Services to SICORP’s clients and to internal clients. Provide backup to other Client Solutions reps and Satellite Programmers.


Qualifications

Employee must be proficient in the entire Microsoft Office Suite. After a complete training program given by Astrium GEO, employee must be proficient in the entire SAS suite, Multi-satellite tool and Access Unit. Knowledge in climatology is desired.

Must be extremely organized and excellent at time management. Candidate must have excellent communications and contact relation skills.

Special Position Requirements

This position does require some domestic and international travel to France. This position also requires employee to be part of Astrium GEO’s 7-day service which requires availability on rotating weekends and some overtime. Other overtime may be requested on a case by case basis.

Responsibilities

Provide Complete Programming Support


  1. Be familiar with and adhere to all programming procedures.
  2. Act as the programming software expert within Astrium GEO NA. Be prepared to train new employees on programming software.
  3. Coordinate with IT dept. and other GEO entities on programming software functionality. 
  4. Maintain tracking mechanisms to keep everyone informed on status of all programming requests.
  5. Receive and program all programming requests for designated territories. Use multi-satellite capacity if it is relevant. Receive and coordinate international requests which need to go to Astrium GEO in Toulouse. Track all PARs to make sure they are receiving attempts. Validate images, provide shape files, etc.
  6. Coordinate programming and PALT slots for designated ground stations.
  7. Manage relationship with Astrium GEO Toulouse as concerns international programming and overall programming capabilities and limitations. Make sure to include supervisor in overall strategy and major decisions. Actively solicit information from relevant sources on new functionalities and knowledge.
  8. Travel to Toulouse once a year to receive yearly programming training.
  9. Promote a positive relationship with clients and with SISA.
Provide Backup

  1. Coordinate vacation schedules with other CS reps and Programmers.
  2. Receive requests from other customers and AMs when CS reps and Programmers are out.
  3. Communicate workload level with other Programmers & CS reps. Offer and ask for help when needed.
